Outside of his legal accolades, Tony is a strong and passionate proponent of educational reform in this country. He is a deep believer in empowering parents and students by making school choice available to all parents and students regardless of their socio-economic status. Tony serves on the Board of Directors of Sports Leadership Arts and Management Academy Charter School in Miami. SLAM is located in one of the city’s most impoverished neighborhoods, and services an overwhelmingly minority student population. The public charter school educates and prepares students for a myriad of careers in sports, ranging from sports medicine and media production to marketing, nutrition, entertainment, and management, unlocking seemingly unattainable opportunities within the industry for its students.
SLAM has received immense support from global superstar Pitbull, the school's Brand Ambassador, and has garnered significant national attention through features on The Today Show, Good Morning America, The Tonight Show, the Katie Couric Show, National Public Radio, The Washington Post, ABC Nightline, and CNN.
Tony serves as the Vice President and Vice Chairman of the SLAM Foundation, of which he was a founding director and officer, which helps direct the school’s growing list of corporate partnerships and supports the school’s expansion in Miami, as well as the current replication of its successful model in Las Vegas, Tampa, Orlando, Palm Beach, Washington D.C., Los Angeles, and San Antonio. SLAM’s growth took an important step in 2016, when it was awarded a channel on Sirius XM Satellite Radio to be produced by students of the SLAM network, the first-ever school to receive such an honor.
